A Night at the Ballet

Justin Peck’s tenth ballet for the New York City Ballet titled, “The Most Incredible Thing” premiered last week at Lincoln Center. Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale from 1870, Peck delivered a dramatic narrative.

Each winter, the New York City Ballet presents a world premiere for the New Combinations program. “The Most Incredible Thing” is “the story of a young man who creates a magnificent clock in an effort to win a contest and the peculiar consequences that ensue.” Composed by Bryce Dessner of The National, Peck’s ballet features 50 dancers and elaborate costume designs by the contemporary artist Marcel Dzama.

Below Sterling Hyltin takes a bow with her partner, and Amar Ramasar, Taylor Stanley, Daniel Applebaum and the rest of the cast receive a standing ovation.
